Jay’s EK Honda Civic

Jay's EK Honda Civic

Jay bought his EK Honda Civic as an affordable, practical, Daily Driver. Being young, insurance was a huge factor when deciding which car to buy. The Honda Civic is one of the most stylish and insurance friendly Japanese cars avaialble, so the choice was clear. A mint white hatchback EK civic was found, featuring the insurance friendly, yet surprisingly potent 1.5 SOHC engine.

It didn’t take long for Jay to start personalising his new hatchback. He decided that the clean, factory lines of the awesome EK9 Type-R would be perfect for his white Civic. An OEM Lip and spoiler were sourced, and he colour coded the bump strips and skirts at the same time. To further improve the look, wallet-friendly Rota GT3s were fitted, and then the car was lowered on D2 suspension. To aid handling, the rear of the car was stripped, shaving a few kilos off the total weight of the car.

The car was handling well, and looked perfect, but Jay wanted the little single cam to breath a bit better. He invested in the tried and tested I/H/E combo. First a custom exhaust system was built, and then an intake, exhaust manifold and decat were fitted. Now the Civic was aesthetically pleasing, accelerating quicker, and handling sharply, whilst still being insurance and fuel friendly; everything that is needed from a daily driver.

Plans for the civic include fitting EP3 seats, but Jay mentions that hes on the lookout for a new project; a DC2 integra.
